Silicon carbide 60/90 is the coarse grit for step one of the four-step rock tumbling process. It shapes rough rock, rounds off sharp edges and grinds away pits, and it is the standard first step for agate, jasper and quartz.

Use it in rotary tumblers, and for lapping and other coarse grinding work. A single grit is an inexpensive way to restock the step you use most. The coarse step often needs a second week, so it is handy to have extra on hand.

Available in three sizes:

  • 7 ounce
  • 11 ounce
  • 15 ounce

How much to use: about 2 tablespoons per pound of rock for each step in a rotary tumbler. Start every run, including a repeat of the coarse step, with fresh grit. See how much grit to use and our grit stages guide.

The abrasive media is shipped in a plastic resealable bag.

This product is made in the USA and the quality is of the highest industry standard.
