This Privacy Policy explains how Rockridge Grit (“Rockridge Grit,” “we,” “us” or “our”) collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit ridgegrit.com (the “Site”), contact us or buy from us. We sell only to customers in the United States, and this policy is written for U.S. residents. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here. Please also read our Terms and Conditions.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Order information: your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number and the products you buy.
- Payment information: card or wallet details you enter at checkout. These go directly to our payment processor. We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Account information: if you create an account, your login details, saved addresses and order history.
- Messages: what you send through our contact form or by email, such as your name, email address, tumbler brand and model, what you are tumbling, and your message.
- Reviews and other submissions: any reviews, photos or comments you choose to post.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, referring website and the date and time of your visit, which our web server and hosting provider log as part of running the Site.
- Analytics and advertising data: through Google Analytics and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel, information about how you use the Site, such as pages and products viewed, items added to your cart, purchases and their value, approximate location, device and browser information, and cookie or device identifiers. See Sections 3 and 5.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 5 below.
2. How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- process, ship and deliver your orders, and send order confirmations, invoices and shipping updates;
- take payments, issue refunds and handle returns;
- calculate shipping rates and sales tax;
- answer your questions and custom blend requests and give tumbling help;
- manage your account;
- understand how visitors find and use the Site, so we can improve our products and pages;
- show you ads for our products on Facebook, Instagram and other sites and apps, including people who have visited our Site, and measure how well those ads work;
- detect and prevent fraud, spam and abuse, and keep the Site secure;
- comply with legal, tax and accounting obligations, and enforce our Terms and Conditions.
We send marketing emails only if you have asked to receive them, and you can unsubscribe at any time with the link in the email or by contacting us.
3. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it with service providers who help us run the store, only as needed for them to do that work, and with Google and Meta for analytics and advertising, as described below:
- Payment processing: WooPayments, which is powered by Stripe, and Apple Pay or Google Pay if you choose them. They process your payment and may use your information to prevent fraud, under their own privacy policies.
- WooPay (optional): at checkout you can choose to save your information with WooPay, a checkout service from WooCommerce, for faster one-click checkout here and at other stores that use WooPay. If you opt in, your name, email address, mobile phone number, shipping address and payment details are shared with and stored by WooPay under its own terms of service and privacy policy, and WooPay may text you a code to verify purchases. You can leave this box unticked to check out without WooPay.
- Shipping and tax: WooCommerce Shipping and WooCommerce Tax, which use your address to calculate rates and taxes and to print labels, and the shipping carriers (such as USPS or UPS) that deliver your order.
- Hosting and website services: our web hosting provider (Hostinger), and the WordPress and WooCommerce software and plugins that run the Site.
- Spam protection: our anti-spam service, which screens contact form and comment submissions to block automated spam.
- Email: the services we use to send order and support emails.
- Google Analytics: a web analytics service from Google that uses cookies to collect information about your visits, such as pages viewed, time on the Site, how you arrived and what you bought. Google processes this information under the Google Privacy Policy. Learn more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram): we use the Meta Pixel, and may use Meta’s Conversions API, to send Meta information about your activity on our Site, such as pages and products viewed, items added to your cart and purchases, along with identifiers such as cookie IDs, your IP address and browser information, and, for purchases, a hashed (scrambled) version of contact details like your email address or phone number. Meta uses this to measure our ads, to show our ads to people who have visited our Site or who are similar to our customers, and for its own purposes as described in the Meta Privacy Policy.
We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena or other legal process; to protect the rights, property or safety of Rockridge Grit, our customers or others; or as part of a sale, merger or transfer of our business, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
4. Information you post publicly
If you post a product review or comment, your name and the content you submit may be visible to other visitors. Please do not include sensitive personal information in public posts.
5. Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them to:
- Run the store: keep items in your cart, keep you signed in, and remember your session at checkout. These are needed for the Site to work.
- Understand how you found us: WooCommerce records the source of your visit (for example, a search engine or another website) in first-party cookies and attaches it to your order, so we know which channels bring customers.
- Process payments and prevent fraud: our payment processor may set cookies during checkout.
- Analytics: Google Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the Site, which pages and products are popular, and where our traffic comes from.
- Advertising: the Meta Pixel sets cookies and similar technologies that let Meta recognize your browser, link your activity on our Site to your Facebook or Instagram account if you have one, show you our ads, and measure the results of our ads.
Your choices about analytics and advertising:
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Parts of the Site, such as the cart and checkout, may not work without essential cookies.
- Opt out of Google Analytics on all websites with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, and manage Google ad personalization at My Ad Center.
- Control the ads you see on Facebook and Instagram, including ads based on your activity on other websites, in your Meta ad preferences.
- Opt out of interest-based advertising from participating companies through the Digital Advertising Alliance and the Network Advertising Initiative.
- Ask us to opt you out of sharing for targeted advertising by emailing support@ridgegrit.com or using our contact form.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: our Site does not currently respond automatically to “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals. To opt out, please use the choices listed above or contact us, and we will honor your request.
6. How long we keep information
We keep order and payment records for as long as needed to fulfill your order, handle returns and warranty questions, and meet tax, accounting and legal requirements, which is generally up to seven years. We keep contact form messages and support emails for as long as needed to help you and for a reasonable time afterward. Account information is kept until you ask us to close your account. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
7. How we protect your information
The Site uses encryption (HTTPS) for data in transit, and payment details are handled by our PCI-compliant payment processor. We limit access to personal information to people who need it to run the store. No website or method of storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable state law.
8. Your choices and privacy rights
You can review and update your account details at any time on the My account page, and you can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time.
Depending on the state you live in, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and others with consumer privacy laws, you may have the right to:
- know what personal information we have collected about you and how we use and share it;
- get a copy of your personal information;
- correct inaccurate personal information;
- ask us to delete your personal information;
- opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information, including its use for targeted (cross-context behavioral) advertising, such as the Meta Pixel and Google advertising features described in Sections 3 and 5 (we do not use your information for profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects);
- not be treated differently for exercising any of these rights.
We offer these choices to all of our U.S. customers, whatever state they live in. To make a request, email us at support@ridgegrit.com or use our contact form. We will need to verify your identity, usually by matching the email address and order details we have on file. You may use an authorized agent to make a request for you, and we may ask for proof that the agent is authorized. We will respond within the time required by law, generally 45 days. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond to your appeal in writing.
Some information must be kept even after a deletion request, such as order records we are required to keep for tax and accounting purposes, and information needed to prevent fraud or comply with the law.
California residents: in the past 12 months we have collected the categories of information described in Section 1 (identifiers, commercial information such as purchase history, internet activity on our Site, and approximate location based on your shipping address or IP address), from the sources and for the purposes described in Sections 1 and 2, and disclosed them to the service providers described in Section 3 for business purposes. We do not sell personal information for money. However, our use of the Meta Pixel and Google advertising and analytics tools may be considered “selling” or “sharing” of identifiers and internet activity under California law, because it lets those companies use that information for advertising. You can opt out of this at any time using the choices in Section 5 or by contacting us. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. Under California’s “Shine the Light” law, you may ask once a year about disclosures to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. To make such a request, contact us using the details in Section 12.
9. Children’s privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Links to other websites
The Site may link to websites and services we do not control. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we encourage you to read them.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we will post a notice on the Site.
